1can(15 ounces) no-salt added tomato sauce,Note: Two cans (8 ounces each) may be substituted for one 15 ounce can.
1can(14.5 ounces) Italian-style diced tomatoes
1can(6 ounces) tomato paste
¼ - ½teaspooncrushed red pepper
1poundpasta of your choice,cooked per package instructions
Garnish (optional)
thinly sliced fresh basil and grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
Heat stockpot over medium heat until hot.
Once heated, add 1 pound ground beef, 1 medium chopped onion, and 1 tablespoon minced garlic. Cook 8 to 10 minutes, breaking beef into ¾-inch crumbles and stirring occasionally.
Stir in, 15 ounces tomato sauce, 14.5 ounces diced tomatoes, 6 ounces tomato paste, and ¼ to ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 20 minutes to develop flavors, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in basil, if desired.
Serve sauce over pasta. Garnish with basil and Parmesan, if desired.
