Legacy

Return to Episode: Legacy

Founded in 1882, Virginia State University was one of the first Historically Black Colleges and Universities and the first to offer a four-year degree. It trained the first generation of Black Americans born free, providing opportunities that their parents couldn’t have imagined.

In this special episode, we explore VSU’s legacy and impact on American agriculture. We’ll hear from past and current students, a professor who returned to work at his alma mater, and the woman behind the first accredited program dedicated to the legacy of HBCUs.
