Shuman Farms is looking forward to the 2024 IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show, set to take place October 17-19 in Atlanta, Georgia. This year’s event is particularly special for Shuman Farms, as the show’s location in Atlanta brings the company’s passion for produce and football together in its home state. Shuman Farms will be hosting a one-of-a-kind tailgate experience right on the show floor at booth BC523, part of the Georgia Grown Pavilion.

“This year’s IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show is particularly exciting for us,” said John Shuman, President and CEO of Shuman Farms. “We’re bringing our love for produce and football to the heart of Atlanta with a tailgate celebration that ties into our brand as the Official Sweet Onion of Tailgating. Our booth will give attendees an awesome game-day experience—perfect for connecting with our retail partners and showcasing our commitment to quality, flavor, and fun.”

One of the highlights of Shuman Farms’ presence at the show is its partnership with the University of Georgia (UGA) and Georgia Southern University (GSU), allowing the company to reach the next generation of consumers.

“We’re especially excited to showcase our partnerships with UGA and GSU. These collaborations help us drive the message of healthy eating and increased produce consumption among college students and sports fans alike,” added Shuman. “Our alignment with these iconic Georgia schools is helping us build brand recognition and trust while encouraging healthier choices among young consumers.”

The tailgate-themed booth will feature interactive displays, delicious recipes, and live demonstrations that highlight the versatility of sweet onions and how they can elevate any tailgate spread. Shuman Farms will also offer insight into their strategic merchandising around tailgating, designed to increase fresh produce sales through innovative in-store displays and promotions.

“We’ve found that tailgating is more than just a game-day ritual—it’s a chance for families and friends to gather and create memorable meals with fresh ingredients, like our sweet onions,” said Shuman. “By creating strategic cross-promotions and unique displays, we’re helping our retail partners boost sales while giving consumers more reasons to fill their baskets with fresh produce.”

In addition to showcasing the tailgate experience, Shuman Farms will focus on their Peruvian sweet onion program. “This year, we continued Vidalia distribution through the end of September and seamlessly transitioned into our Peruvian sweet onions,” Shuman explained. “Our sweet onions, imported via the Port of Savannah, play a vital role in Georgia’s economy and allow us to deliver high-quality product to consumers year-round. We’re proud of the positive impact we’re having on the region through job creation and economic support.”

Shuman Farms is also pushing boundaries with their innovative “edutainment” strategy, which combines education with entertainment to engage consumers. “We’re blending education and entertainment to make learning about sweet onions both fun and informative. Whether through digital content, recipe inspiration, or in-store promotions, we’re elevating the shopper experience and promoting healthier eating habits,” Shuman stated.

The entire Shuman Farms team will be at booth BC523 in the Georgia Grown Pavilion to connect with retail partners, share insights on sweet onion category growth, and celebrate Georgia pride.

“We’re thrilled to represent our home state so close to home, and we invite everyone to stop by our booth, enjoy the tailgate, and learn more about how Shuman Farms is driving produce industry growth,” Shuman concluded.
