Old Fashioned Bourbon Maple Popcorn with Pecans

Ingredients
- 8 cups popcorn
- ½ cup chopped toasted pecans
- ⅓ cup maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon bourbon, Note: Substitute bourbon with rye or whiskey. For “mocktail” popcorn substitute with non-alcoholic bourbon or whiskey.
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- dash bitter
Instructions
- In a large bowl, add 8 cups popcorn and ½ cup pecans. Set aside.
- In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, add ⅓ cup maple syrup, 1 tablespoon bourbon, and 2 tablespoons butter and bring to a boil. Cook swirling pan for 3 to 5 minutes or thickens to corn syrup consistency.
- Stir in, 1 tablespoon orange zest and dash bitters.
- Drizzle maple syrup mixture over popcorn and toss to evenly coat. Cool completely and serve.
