Traditional Oven Roasted Turkey

Ingredients
  

  • 1 whole turkey (about 15 pounds)
  • 2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, cut in 4ths
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 lemon, cut in half
  • 1 apple, cut in 4ths
  • salt and pepper
  • melted butter

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 325℉.
  • Pull the neck and giblets out of the cavity (save for gravy).
  • Dry the turkey with paper towels. Season inside and out with salt and pepper. Note: Do not wash turkey.
  • Fill the turkey cavity with 1 chopped onion, 1 chopped carrot, 1 cut apple, and halved lemon.
  • Place the turkey breast side up in a roasting pan and tress with the Turbo Trusser. Brush with melted butter.
  • Tent with foil and roast for 2 hours Note: For a larger turkey add an extra 15 minutes per pound.
  • Remove the foil from the turkey and baste with more melted butter. Increase oven temperature to 425℉.
  • Roast for another hour or until the meat at the thigh registers 165℉.
