Sometimes food safety can be less about what’s in or out of what you’re eating and more about what you’re used to eating.
As Dr. Francisco Diez-Gonzalez from the University of Georgia Center for Food Safety explains, different organisms make different people sick. And a lot of that has to do with where you’re from — and where you’re eating.
If you go to Mexico and get a stomach bug, that’s not because Mexico has any more or less stomach bugs than anywhere else. It’s because you’re not used to those!
